The Nigerian Community of Greater Cleveland (NCGC) women's committee is deeply committed to community outreach, engaging in meaningful activities at several charitable organizations each year. These include Laura’s Home, a women's crisis center; the Cleveland Food Bank; Safer Futures, a social services organization; and Haven of Rest Ministries, a homeless shelter in Akron, Ohio. At Laura’s Home and Safer Futures, the women of NCGC play an active role in setting up for lunch, socializing with the residents, and assisting with the cleanup afterward. Their presence offers not just practical help but also emotional support, as they engage with the women and children who benefit from these services. Similarly, at Haven of Rest Ministries, the NCGC women help prepare and serve meals, ensuring that the guests feel cared for during their time of need.
At the Cleveland Food Bank, the women assist in restocking food items and guide individuals as they shop for groceries, making sure that everyone gets the essentials they need. This hands-on involvement is crucial in helping the Food Bank run smoothly and in supporting those who rely on its services. In addition to their volunteer efforts, the NCGC women also contribute financially, with a yearly donation of $500 to each of these charitable centers. This donation helps sustain the vital services these organizations provide to the community, underscoring the NCGC women's dedication to making a positive impact in the Greater Cleveland area.
